If I be wicked, woe unto me;\par\tab And if I be righteous, yet shall I not lift up my head;\par\tab Being filled with ignominy,\par\tab And looking upon mine affliction.

Woe unto the wicked! {\i it shall be} ill {\i with him}; for what his hands have done shall be done unto him.

Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer;\par\tab I would make supplication to my judge.

Then shall ye return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.\par

Consider mine affliction and my travail;\par\tab And forgive all my sins.

Although thou knowest that I am not wicked,\par\tab And there is none that can deliver out of thy hand?\par

Even so ye also, when ye shall have done all the things that are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which it was our duty to do.}\par

Behold, O Jehovah; for I am in distress; my heart is troubled;\par\tab My heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled:\par\tab Abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts.\par

{\b RESH.}\par\par\tab Consider mine affliction, and deliver me;\par\tab For I do not forget thy law.

The wicked shall be turned back unto Sheol,\par\tab Even all the nations that forget God.

Let mine enemy be as the wicked,\par\tab And let him that riseth up against me be as the unrighteous.\par

Therefore am I terrified at his presence;\par\tab When I consider, I am afraid of him.

Even when I remember I am troubled,\par\tab And horror taketh hold on my flesh.

I shall be condemned;\par\tab Why then do I labor in vain?

Behold, he seizeth {\i the prey}, who can hinder him?\par\tab Who will say unto him, What doest thou?\par

And Jehovah said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people that are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

Return, I pray you, let there be no injustice;\par\tab Yea, return again, my cause is righteous.

Fill their faces with confusion,\par\tab That they may seek thy name, O Jehovah.

For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth,\par\tab By reason of the enemy and the avenger.
