Because of thy raging against me, and because thine arrogancy is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.\par

Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

And am I now come up without Jehovah against this land to destroy it? Jehovah said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.\par

And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult;\par\tab And they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

Forget not the voice of thine adversaries:\par\tab The tumult of those that rise up against thee ascendeth continually.\par

Thine adversaries have roared in the midst of thine assembly;\par\tab They have set up their ensigns for signs.

The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved:\par\tab He uttered his voice, the earth melted.

Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding;\par\tab Whose trappings must be bit and bridle to hold them in,\par\tab {\i Else} they will not come near unto thee.

Canst thou put a rope into his nose?\par\tab Or pierce his jaw through with a hook?

Behold, I will put a spirit in him, and he shall hear tidings, and shall return unto his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.\par

And ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard it.
