Isaiah 22:5

For it is a day of discomfiture, and of treading down, and of perplexity, from the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, in the valley of vision; a breaking down of the walls, and a crying to the mountains.

The best of them is as a brier; the most upright is {\i worse} than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen, even thy visitation, is come; now shall be their perplexity.

Her adversaries are become the head, her enemies prosper;\par\tab For Jehovah hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions:\par\tab Her young children are gone into captivity before the adversary.

And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of contumely; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.\par

The Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and hath not pitied:\par\tab He hath thrown down in his wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah;\par\tab He hath brought them down to the ground; he hath profaned the kingdom and the princes thereof.

Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

The burden of the valley of vision.\par\tab What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?

then let them that are in Jud\'e6a flee unto the mountains:

For in this mountain will the hand of Jehovah rest; and Moab shall be trodden down in his place, even as straw is trodden down in the water of the dung-hill.

And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; I will break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

The posts went forth in haste by the king's commandment, and the decree was given out in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Shushan was perplexed.\par

And all the army of the Chaldeans, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.

And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of contumely; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yea, I trod them in mine anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment.

And I trod down the peoples in mine anger, and made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.\par

Thy doom is come unto thee, O inhabitant of the land: the time is come, the day is near, {\i a day of} tumult, and not {\i of} joyful shouting, upon the mountains.

That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

Jehovah hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion;\par\tab He hath stretched out the line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying;\par\tab And he hath made the rampart and wall to lament; they languish together.
