Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas; I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a destroyer at noonday: I have caused anguish and terrors to fall upon her suddenly.

We are orphans and fatherless;\par\tab Our mothers are as widows.

Pour out thine indignation upon them,\par\tab And let the fierceness of thine anger overtake them.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.\par

Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by him.

Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword; and let their wives become childless, and widows; and let their men be slain of death, {\i and} their young men smitten of the sword in battle.

Who knoweth the power of thine anger,\par\tab And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee?

Thou, even thou, art to be feared;\par\tab And who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

For calamity from God is a terror to me,\par\tab And by reason of his majesty I can do nothing.\par

For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit have they opened against me:\par\tab They have spoken unto me with a lying tongue.

And if thy brother be waxed poor, and his hand fail with thee; then thou shalt uphold him: as a stranger and a sojourner shall he live with thee.

Take thou no interest of him or increase, but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.

Unto a foreigner thou mayest lend upon interest; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon interest, that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all that thou puttest thy hand unto, in the land whither thou goest in to possess it.

When thou shalt vow a vow unto Jehovah thy God, thou shalt not be slack to pay it: for Jehovah thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I held a great assembly against them.

He that putteth not out his money to interest,\par\tab Nor taketh reward against the innocent.\par\tab He that doeth these things shall never be moved.\par
