There are six things which Jehovah hateth;\par\tab Yea, seven which are an abomination unto him:

He hath dispersed, he hath given to the needy;\par\tab His righteousness endureth for ever:\par\tab His horn shall be exalted with honor.

He will deliver thee in six troubles;\par\tab Yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.\par

Yea, if a man live many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.\par

Remember also thy Creator in the days of thy youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

Ask thy young men, and they will tell thee: wherefore let the young men find favor in thine eyes; for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thy hand, unto thy servants, and to thy son David.
