And they, when they had further threatened them, let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people; for all men glorified God for that which was done.

And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death; for they feared the people.\par

And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him in that very hour; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he spake this parable against them.

But if we shall say, From men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.

And when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.\par

But when the multitudes saw it, they were afraid, and glorified God, who had given such authority unto men.\par

And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles unto them, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

But that it spread no further among the people, let us threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

And as he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame: and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.\par

And amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day.\par

But they said, Not during the feast, lest a tumult arise among the people.\par

insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel.\par

And when the demon was cast out, the dumb man spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

For the man was more than forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was wrought.\par

But of the rest durst no man join himself to them: howbeit the people magnified them;
