Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that {\b God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins he would set {\i one} upon his throne};
David himself said in the Holy Spirit,\par\tab {\b The Lord said unto my Lord,\par\tab Sit thou on my right hand,\par\tab Till I put thine enemies underneath thy feet.}
These shall war against the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings; and they {\i also shall overcome} that are with him, called and chosen and faithful.
(for they indeed have been made priests without an oath; but he with an oath by him that saith of him,\par\tab {\b The Lord sware and will not repent himself,\par\tab Thou art a priest for ever});
he again defineth a certain day, {\b To-day}, saying in David so long a time afterward (even as hath been said before),\par\tab {\b Today if ye shall hear his voice,\par\tab Harden not your hearts.}
And again, Isaiah saith,\par\tab {\b There shall be the root of Jesse,\par\tab And he that ariseth to rule over the Gentiles;\par\tab On him shall the Gentiles hope.}
Brethren, it was needful that the scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus.
And he said unto them, {\cf6 These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me.}
But thou, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.
