Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.
But I hold not my life of any account as dear unto myself, so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
I know thy works (behold, I have set before thee a door opened, which none can shut), that thou hast a little power, and didst keep my word, and didst not deny my name.
Because thou didst keep the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of trial, that {\i hour} which is to come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.\par
O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto {\i thee}, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;
This charge I commit unto thee, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which led the way to thee, that by them thou mayest war the good warfare;
And as John was fulfilling his course, he said, What suppose ye that I am? I am not {\i he}. But behold, there cometh one after me the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to unloose.
And I went up by revelation; and I laid before them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles but privately before them who were of repute, lest by any means I should be running, or had run, in vain.
And there was given them to each one a white robe; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little time, until their fellow-servants also and their brethren, who should be killed even as they were, should have fulfilled {\i their course}.\par
