There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put {\i there} at Horeb, when Jehovah made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.\par
having a golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein {\i was} a golden pot holding the manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be mine own possession from among all peoples: for all the earth is mine:
These are the words of the covenant which Jehovah commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
And Jehovah said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon the tables the words that were on the first tables, which thou brakest.
And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, the two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
