Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to {\i the will of} God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
What soldier ever serveth at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
And in covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose sentence now from of old lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not.
looking carefully lest {\i there be} any man that falleth short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble {\i you}, and thereby the many be defiled;
Oh that there were one among you that would shut the doors, that ye might not kindle {\i fire on} mine altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, saith Jehovah of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.
Woe to the worthless shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.\par
Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thy heritage, which dwell solitarily, in the forest in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses {\i and} his people, {\i saying}, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit in the midst of them?
Yea, the dogs are greedy, they can never have enough; and these are shepherds that cannot understand: they have all turned to their own way, each one to his gain, from every quarter.
He will feed his flock like a shepherd, he will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom, {\i and} will gently lead those that have their young.\par
If thou know not, O thou fairest among women,\par\tab Go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock,\par\tab And feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.\par
who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.\par
Then Paul answered, What do ye, weeping and breaking my heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall possess them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
And thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priesthood for everything of the altar, and for that within the veil; and ye shall serve: I give you the priesthood as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
