And Moses said unto Jehovah, Wherefore hast thou dealt ill with thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favor in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?

How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

And Moses returned unto Jehovah, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou dealt ill with this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?

Besides those things that are without, there is that which presseth upon me daily, anxiety for all the churches.

Ye have said, It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept his charge, and that we have walked mournfully before Jehovah of hosts?

Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou indeed be unto me as a deceitful brook, as waters that fail?

Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not lent, neither have men lent to me; yet every one of them doth curse me.

And enter not into judgment with thy servant; For in thy sight no man living is righteous.

If thou, Jehovah, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?

I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; Show me wherefore thou contendest with me.

And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favor in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

And Moses cried unto Jehovah, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they are almost ready to stone me.

And Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent: and the anger of Jehovah was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.
