Therefore thus said the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be ashamed:

And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat on the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

Yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution rises because of the word, by and by he is offended.

And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution rises for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

He has filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he has sent empty away.

Blessed are you that hunger now: for you shall be filled. Blessed are you that weep now: for you shall laugh.

But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it wither the grass, and the flower thereof falls, and the grace of the fashion of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
