And one of the elders said to me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

I Jesus have sent my angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

And again, Esaias said, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and on the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

Thus said the LORD; Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears: for your work shall be rewarded, said the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

And one of the elders answered, saying to me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and from where came they?

The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that lives for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him, to show to his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel to his servant John:

And they say to her, Woman, why weep you? She said to them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, Weep not.

He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesses you, and cursed is he that curses you.

But Jesus turning to them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleeps.

I came near to one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other on the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.

And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays:

His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
