Out of the depths have I cried to you, O LORD.

For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has smitten my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet on a rock, and established my goings.

Let not the flood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth on me.

For great is your mercy toward me: and you have delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
