O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set you before them.

For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.

The transgression of the wicked said within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not on the LORD.

Then said he to me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD has forsaken the earth, and the LORD sees not.

Then said he to me, Son of man, have you seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the LORD sees us not; the LORD has forsaken the earth.

The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

The proud have dig pits for me, which are not after your law.

The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep your precepts with my whole heart.

The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from your law.

Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

Why does the wicked scorn God? he has said in his heart, You will not require it.

He has said in his heart, God has forgotten: he hides his face; he will never see it.

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil on Absalom.

Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.

He shall reward evil to my enemies: cut them off in your truth.
