Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart on them.

Because he has oppressed and has forsaken the poor; because he has violently taken away an house which he built not;

This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.

Surely every man walks in a vain show: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heaps up riches, and knows not who shall gather them.

But know that the LORD has set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call to him.

They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

See, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

Because he has set his love on me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name.

Will you set your eyes on that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

Because you have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing whip shall pass through, it shall not come to us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

Why thus said the Holy One of Israel, Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:

Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he takes up the isles as a very little thing.

All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

For you have trusted in your wickedness: you have said, None sees me. Your wisdom and your knowledge, it has perverted you; and you have said in your heart, I am, and none else beside me.

None calls for justice, nor any pleads for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

This is your lot, the portion of your measures from me, said the LORD; because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.

As the partridge sits on eggs, and hatches them not; so he that gets riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the middle of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

And Jesus looked round about, and said to his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;
