Sacrifice and offering you did not desire; my ears have you opened: burnt offering and sin offering have you not required.

Then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction,

Which does great things and unsearchable; marvelous things without number:

How precious also are your thoughts to me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with you.

I will not reprove you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.

For you desire not sacrifice; else would I give it: you delight not in burnt offering.

My mouth shall show forth your righteousness and your salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.

Then his master shall bring him to the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or to the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.

To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to me? said the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you, I will praise your name; for you have done wonderful things; your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

He that kills an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrifices a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offers an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burns incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations.

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Though you offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.

But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless.

But go you and learn what that means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

And Samuel said, Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.
