And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers to the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endures for ever.

And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell got hold on me: I found trouble and sorrow.

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travails: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

And while he yet spoke, see, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are you come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and you laid no hold on me.

And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and immediately the doors were shut.

But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raises the dead:
