Though the LORD be high, yet has he respect to the lowly: but the proud he knows afar off.

You know my sitting down and my rising up, you understand my thought afar off.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.

Surely he scorns the scorners: but he gives grace to the lowly.

The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

For thus said the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

For all those things has my hand made, and all those things have been, said the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word.

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

Then shall he say also to them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

For he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from now on all generations shall call me blessed.

For whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

But he gives more grace. Why he said, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
