Out of the depths have I cried to you, O LORD.
I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from where comes my help.
I was glad when they said to me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.
To you lift I up my eyes, O you that dwell in the heavens.
If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;
They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but stays for ever.
When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.
Blessed is every one that fears the LORD; that walks in his ways.
Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:
He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet on a rock, and established my goings.
Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterspouts: all your waves and your billows are gone over me.
You, which have showed me great and sore troubles, shall quicken me again, and shall bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
