And you shall take no gift: for the gift blinds the wise, and perverts the words of the righteous.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of the owners thereof.

As righteousness tends to life: so he that pursues evil pursues it to his own death.

He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

Labor not to be rich: cease from your own wisdom.

The prince that wants understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days.

He that is of a proud heart stirs up strife: but he that puts his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

The king by judgment establishes the land: but he that receives gifts overthrows it.

As the partridge sits on eggs, and hatches them not; so he that gets riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the middle of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

You shall not wrest judgment; you shall not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift does blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

Neither shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be a cursed thing like it: but you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

And you, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest you make yourselves accursed, when you take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

Behold, here I am: witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind my eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.
