And to his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft comes their destruction on them! God distributes sorrows in his anger.

When his candle shined on my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;

To the upright there rises light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

Only by pride comes contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor hears not rebuke.

Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more to the perfect day.

And when I shall put you out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.

Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he has no son? Give to us therefore a possession among the brothers of our father.

Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
