And the LORD spoke to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not listen.

But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:

But my people would not listen to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge: but he that hates reproof is brutish.

Correction is grievous to him that forsakes the way: and he that hates reproof shall die.

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

Therefore thus said the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken to them, but they have not heard; and I have called to them, but they have not answered.

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

And you returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not listen to your voice, nor give ear to you.

And you shall cry out in that day because of your king which you shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
