And Moses said to the LORD, Why have you afflicted your servant? and why have I not found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?

I will say to God, Do not condemn me; show me why you contend with me.

If you, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

And enter not into judgment with your servant: for in your sight shall no man living be justified.

And Moses cried to the LORD, saying, What shall I do to this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

And Moses returned to the LORD, and said, LORD, why have you so evil entreated this people? why is it that you have sent me?

Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them does curse me.

Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? will you be altogether to me as a liar, and as waters that fail?

You have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?

Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.

And if you deal thus with me, kill me, I pray you, out of hand, if I have found favor in your sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

Beside those things that are without, that which comes on me daily, the care of all the churches.

How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?
