Then said Pilate to him, Hear you not how many things they witness against you?
And the high priest arose, and said to him, Answer you nothing? what is it which these witness against you?
And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
And he answered him to never a word; so that the governor marveled greatly.
Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you to me: what have you done?
The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know why they cried so against him.
