He that trusts in his own heart is a fool: but whoever walks wisely, he shall be delivered.

A man's pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.

The fear of man brings a snare: but whoever puts his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

And of whom have you been afraid or feared, that you have lied, and have not remembered me, nor laid it to your heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and you fear me not?

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.

But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

But Peter followed him afar off to the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came to him, saying, You also were with Jesus of Galilee.

And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said to them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Be not high minded, but fear:

Why let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
