Whether of them two did the will of his father? They say to him, The first. Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but smote on his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and you say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a drunkard, a friend of publicans and sinners!

And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.

(It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

Then again called they the man that was blind, and said to him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.

Now we know that God hears not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and does his will, him he hears.

But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for murderers,

And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
