And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said to him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

And Jesus answered and said, Suffer you thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, said the Lord.
