Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keep covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before you, that has come on us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria to this day.

O remember that my life is wind: my eye shall no more see good.

Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions:

Remember how short my time is: why have you made all men in vain?

Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people;

Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defended cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God has put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

Therefore thus said the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

He has filled me with bitterness, he has made me drunken with wormwood.

He has built against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
