Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he has sent.

For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world.

And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he said, I came down from heaven?

As the living Father has sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eats me, even he shall live by me.

For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached you fell on me.

(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? Eph 4:10: He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
