But now he is dead, why should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

You put my feet also in the stocks, and look narrowly to all my paths; you set a print on the heels of my feet.

But man dies, and wastes away: yes, man gives up the ghost, and where is he?

And does you open your eyes on such an one, and bring me into judgment with you?

He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yes, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.

The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he opens his eyes, and he is not.

For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

And why do you not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and you shall seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen you.

For the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

Yet he passed away, and, see, he was not: yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.

When you with rebukes do correct man for iniquity, you make his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.
