Can a man be profitable to God, as he that is wise may be profitable to himself?

What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray to him?

Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that you are righteous? or is it gain to him, that you make your ways perfect?

What is man, that you should magnify him? and that you should set your heart on him?

O my soul, you have said to the LORD, You are my Lord: my goodness extends not to you;

If you be wise, you shall be wise for yourself: but if you scorn, you alone shall bear it.

And if your right eye offend you, pluck it out, and cast it from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body should be cast into hell.

So likewise you, when you shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he gives to all life, and breath, and all things;

To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command you this day for your good?
