And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil on Absalom.

And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, Are you made of the king's counsel? forbear; why should you be smitten? Then the prophet declined, and said, I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.

He removes away the speech of the trusty, and takes away the understanding of the aged.

He that speaks flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

The LORD has mingled a perverse spirit in the middle thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes.

He answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

(According as it is written, God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) to this day.

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
