Howl, O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled: cry, you daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro by the hedges; for their king shall go into captivity, and his priests and his princes together.

For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

Go to now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come on you.

And them that worship the host of heaven on the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;

And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, said the LORD.

Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

And Joshua burnt Ai, and made it an heap for ever, even a desolation to this day.

And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.

And the LORD said to Joshua, Fear not, neither be you dismayed: take all the people of war with you, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:

And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
