Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, you have spoken and done evil things as you could.

Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.

Will you be angry with us for ever? will you draw out your anger to all generations?

Will you not revive us again: that your people may rejoice in you?

For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.

Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech you, we are all your people.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, you backsliding Israel, said the LORD; and I will not cause my anger to fall on you: for I am merciful, said the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.

Why then is this people of Jerusalem slid back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

I listened and heard, but they spoke not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rushes into the battle.

Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in you to their power to shed blood.

Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil on their beds! when the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand.

That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asks, and the judge asks for a reward; and the great man, he utters his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.
