Thus said the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorce, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have you sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

In measure, when it shoots forth, you will debate with it: he stays his rough wind in the day of the east wind.

Your first father has sinned, and your teachers have transgressed against me.

Remember this, and show yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O you transgressors.

For thus said the LORD, You have sold yourselves for nothing; and you shall be redeemed without money.

They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return to her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but you have played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, said the LORD.

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

Your way and your doings have procured these things to you; this is your wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reaches to your heart.

Therefore shall you fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with you in the night, and I will destroy your mother.

And if your brother that dwells by you be waxen poor, and be sold to you; you shall not compel him to serve as a bondservant:

But for as much as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
