For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel my elect, I have even called you by your name: I have surnamed you, though you have not known me.

O you seed of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen.

Even an heritage to Israel his servant: for his mercy endures for ever.

But now thus said the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine.

Thus said the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

That said of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, You shall be built; and to the temple, Your foundation shall be laid.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days.

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore you ignorantly worship, him declare I to you.

What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks for; but the election has obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

Not as though the word of God has taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

That at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
