Come, my people, enter you into your chambers, and shut your doors about you: hide yourself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be over.

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me: for my soul trusts in you: yes, in the shadow of your wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be over.

I will cry to God most high; to God that performes all things for me.

He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler.

That you may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be dig for the wicked.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe.

A prudent man foresees the evil, and hides himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and my anger in their destruction.

O Assyrian, the rod of my anger, and the staff in their hand is my indignation.

They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

For the indignation of the LORD is on all nations, and his fury on all their armies: he has utterly destroyed them, he has delivered them to the slaughter.

And I have put my words in your mouth, and I have covered you in the shadow of my hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say to Zion, You are my people.

Listen to me, my people; and give ear to me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.

And when you see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.

And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, said the LORD.

But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people: and walk you in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well to you.

Therefore say, Thus said the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.

And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

Seek you the LORD, all you meek of the earth, which have worked his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be you shall be hid in the day of the LORD's anger.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone them which are sent to you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not!

But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
