Shall a man make gods to himself, and they are no gods?

Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die, O house of Israel?

Then will I sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

And whoever touches his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his iniquity.

Moreover you see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:

Neither be you idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

However, then, when you knew not God, you did service to them which by nature are no gods.

And a curse, if you will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which you have not known.

They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

You shall have none other gods before me.

You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;

The graven images of their gods shall you burn with fire: you shall not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it to you, lest you be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD your God.

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.

That you come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves to them:

Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve you the LORD.

And if it seem evil to you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

And Joshua said to all the people, Thus said the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelled on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

If you forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he has done you good.

Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the LORD God of Israel.

And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

And she said, Behold, your sister in law is gone back to her people, and to her gods: return you after your sister in law.

And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice to the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you do return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts to the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
