And Isaac entreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

And Sarai said to Abram, Behold now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing: I pray you, go in to my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

And God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her, and opened her womb.

And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was entreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

And call on me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.

O you that hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come.

He shall call on me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.

The fear of the wicked, it shall come on him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

Thus said the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command you me.

Then shall you call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the middle of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your handmaid, and remember me, and not forget your handmaid, but will give to your handmaid a man child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come on his head.

Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant you your petition that you have asked of him.

And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

For this child I prayed; and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him:
