And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD has said will we do, and be obedient.

There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

And they swore to the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

Gather my saints together to me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied to him with their tongues.

And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD has spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people to the LORD.

Thus said the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slaves, saying,

Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send you; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.

Now when I passed by you, and looked on you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you, said the Lord GOD, and you became mine.

Have we not all one father? has not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, You men and brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

And when this letter is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that you likewise read the letter from Laodicea.

I charge you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers.

And the people said to Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
