Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit on it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hastening righteousness.

He that walks righteously, and speaks uprightly; he that despises the gain of oppressions, that shakes his hands from holding of bribes, that stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil;

He that has not given forth on usury, neither has taken any increase, that has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true judgment between man and man,

In you have they taken gifts to shed blood; you have taken usury and increase, and you have greedily gained of your neighbors by extortion, and have forgotten me, said the Lord GOD.

Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

These are the things that you shall do; Speak you every man the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.

And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.

And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves to you.

Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.

Why, brothers, look you out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;

Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was an head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.

And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.

And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.
