Why I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

All his days also he eats in darkness, and he has much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.

For he knows not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?

Go your way, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God now accepts your works.

LORD, when your hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yes, the fire of your enemies shall devour them.

Therefore he has poured on him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it has set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days you shall consider it perfectly.

Out of the mouth of the most High proceeds not evil and good?

The LORD's voice cries to the city, and the man of wisdom shall see your name: hear you the rod, and who has appointed it.

But go you and learn what that means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

And you shall rejoice in every good thing which the LORD your God has given to you, and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

Because you served not the LORD your God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;

And he humbled you, and suffered you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you knew not, neither did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD does man live.

You shall also consider in your heart, that, as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you.

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
