Be not rash with your mouth, and let not your heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and you on earth: therefore let your words be few.

But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

In the multitude of words there wants not sin: but he that refrains his lips is wise.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

After this manner therefore pray you: Our Father which are in heaven, Hallowed be your name.

And he said to him, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.

And Jephthah vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, If you shall without fail deliver the children of Ammon into my hands,

And he swore to her, Whatever you shall ask of me, I will give it you, to the half of my kingdom.

And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that you shall give me I will surely give the tenth to you.

Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knows of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.

The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.

The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.
