Nevertheless the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam; but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing to you, because the LORD your God loved you.

It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.

Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: however, our God turned the curse into a blessing.

Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you.

Now when I passed by you, and looked on you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you, said the Lord GOD, and you became mine.

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal; that you may know the righteousness of the LORD.

I have loved you, said the LORD. Yet you say, Wherein have you loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? said the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

And the angel of the LORD said to Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak to you, that you shall speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

He sent messengers therefore to Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesses you, and cursed is he that curses you.

As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

(As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did to me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God gives us.

Yes, he loved the people; all his saints are in your hand: and they sat down at your feet; every one shall receive of your words.

And because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought you out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;

But I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.
