Then Agrippa said to Paul, You are permitted to speak for yourself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

I will speak of your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

Because I have called, and you refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

He that answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame to him.

He that is first in his own cause seems just; but his neighbor comes and searches him.

Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over you, and have diminished your ordinary food, and delivered you to the will of them that hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, which are ashamed of your lewd way.

Does our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he does?

Men, brothers, and fathers, hear you my defense which I make now to you.

To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have license to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.

For it seems to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not with to signify the crimes laid against him.

I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before you touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

But the Lord said to him, Go your way: for he is a chosen vessel to me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

But to Israel he said, All day long I have stretched forth my hands to a disobedient and gainsaying people.
