And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.

Because that you may understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.

And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by you we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done to this nation by your providence,

About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.

Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and sought him,

And I, brothers, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
