Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.

And David said on that day, Whoever gets up to the gutter, and smites the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Why they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

So David dwelled in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

So David would not remove the ark of the LORD to him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

And it was told king David, saying, The LORD has blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertains to him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.

And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.

So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, to king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the city of David to her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.

And David dwelled in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.

And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house.

Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's garden, and to the stairs that go down from the city of David.

For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation.

Yet have I set my king on my holy hill of Zion.

Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

Do good in your good pleasure to Zion: build you the walls of Jerusalem.

The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

Sing praises to the LORD, which dwells in Zion: declare among the people his doings.

Cry out and shout, you inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the middle of you.

And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and to them that turn from transgression in Jacob, said the LORD.

Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, said the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumbling stone and rock of offense: and whoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.

But you are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

And I looked, and, see, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
