And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.

The wicked borrows, and pays not again: but the righteous shows mercy, and gives.

If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is your judgment come.

And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
