For I will defend this city, to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

Nevertheless for David's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:

And I will add to your days fifteen years; and I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him always a light, and to his children.

As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.

And I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.

I, even I, am he that blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and will not remember your sins.

For my own sake, even for my own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory to another.

For my name's sake will I defer my anger, and for my praise will I refrain for you, that I cut you not off.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from now on even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.

Therefore say to the house of Israel, thus said the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for my holy name's sake, which you have profaned among the heathen, where you went.

But I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

And I will encamp about my house because of the army, because of him that passes by, and because of him that returns: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with my eyes.

Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of his glory.

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has made us accepted in the beloved.

Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD has not done all this.
